Terms & Conditions
Lessons are charged at £10 per 20 minutes or £14 per 1/2 hour. Fees are paid in two 50% installments per term (one each half) via direct debit. There are 10-12 sessions per term depending on the school calendar. The link to set up the GoCardless direct debit payments is sent out on confirmation that lessons are to be taken. Fees are subject to change.
GoCardless will send a notification via email each time you are added to a new payment plan, these emails will contain the precise payment amounts and dates for each term. The first 50% installment is usually taken during the first week of term with the second 50% installment scheduled for 6 weeks later.
Once a term starts students are expected to attend lessons for the whole term. No refunds will be given if a pupil decides to stop lessons throughout.
Lessons continue indefinitely until I receive formal notice that they are to end. If/when you wish to cancel a student’s lessons please provide notice by the following dates:
End of Feb half term to finish lessons at the end of the Spring term.
End of May half term to finish lessons at the end of the Summer term.
End of October half term to finish lessons at the end of the Autumn term.
If notice is not provided in accordance with these dates you will be charged for the whole of the following term.
Student absence - unless due to an exceptional circumstance, no lessons will be refunded or rescheduled if a student is absent from school on the day of their lesson.
Teacher absence - In the event of my absence I will either reschedule the lessons or if for any reason rescheduling isn’t possible I will credit them on to the next term.
Secondary school pupils - it is the student’s responsibility to get themselves to their lessons on time each week! Timetables are sent out prior to the beginning of each half term and there is always a copy displayed on the notice board in the music department. Forgotten lessons will not be refunded. If a student needs to change their lesson time for whatever reason please get them to inform me ASAP and I will do my best to fit them in at another time throughout the day.
Students are to remember to bring their instruments each week as some schools cannot provide a spare. Any lessons missed due to a forgotten instrument will not be refunded or rescheduled.
Both my own and the student’s lesson experience is much more enjoyable when they’re regularly practicing at home! Home practice is paramount for student progression so please encourage pupils to maintain a minimum of 3 x 30-minute practice sessions per week - the more the better. Students will struggle to improve without regular practice!
Some sessions do clash with break/lunchtimes although best efforts are made to ensure that the same students aren’t regularly missing their breaks. It is important that students know to cooperate in these circumstances to be fair to other students.
