About
Hey, thanks for checking out my website!
My name is Seán, I am a musician and guitar tutor based in deepest, darkest Bow. I have been teaching music full-time since graduating from the Academy of Music & Sound Exeter with an upper second-class honours degree in 2016. I currently offer lessons in half a dozen local schools as well as 1-2-1 home tuition and virtual lessons via Skype, Zoom, etc.
I specialise in providing guitar lessons for beginner to intermediate players of any age with a particular interest in pop and rock music and the vast array of surrounding sub-genres. I aim to keep my lessons as practical and relaxed as possible, avoiding unnecessary jargon and focusing more on actually playing the guitar. All sessions are tailored to each individual and whether you’re just looking to find your way around a chord chart and strum along to ‘Wonderwall’ or you’re wanting to get down to the nitty-gritty and talk about technique, expression, tone, songwriting, improvisation, music theory, etc. I can help. If grades are your sort of thing I also have an extensive background delivering the RSL Awards syllabus and currently have a 100% exam pass rate with the majority of my students achieving merits or distinctions.
I am DBS certified, safeguarding trained, and a member of the Musician’s Union.
When I’m not making noise or teaching, you’ll likely find me with a banged-up old film camera trying desperately hard to be more like Jason Lee, rummaging through record bins searching for any Springsteen LP’s I don’t already have, or enjoying a Guinness at a preferably quiet village pub.
